Sin and its Consequence

It was late in the evening when the corpse arrived. We were expecting it, for sooner or later, everybody ends up here. It’s just a matter of time. After all, this was Mortuary.

The corpse stank and the stench, unbearable and repulsive. It was an indication of the decay and highly decomposed state of the corpse. The corpse was laid on the examination table and as the body bag was zipped open, we were shocked to see of what lay before us. It was obvious at the outset that the victim had died a cruel death. The victim was tightly tied up with the ropes of Religion and the cellophane tape of Tradition was stuck over the rope to ensure death.

After hours of a painful slow process, the rope and tape were finally cut open and we were witness to a body ridden with maggots and fungi, the decomposition accelerated by the lack of oxygen caused by the ropes of Religion and tape of Tradition. The maggots of Sin and fungi of God-hater ate away the victim.

As we sliced open the cadaver, out spouted the worms and maggots of sexual immorality and adultery, idolatry, lie, murder, hatred, envy, drunkenness, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, heresies, sorcery, evil thoughts, thefts, blasphemies, hypocrisy, love for money, disobedient to parents, traitor, etc.

Having found the answers to how the victim died and what caused the death, the corpse was fit only to be thrown out in the furnace to be burned forever.

Sin corrodes, infects, erodes, destroys, corrupts, causes decay and decomposition. Sin impacts our countenance, health, well-being, relationships, everything that matters to life. It destroys God's relationship with us.

Jesus said, "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies."

The first 'I will' statement of our God: I will make him a helper comparable to him. Instead of ascribing the glory due to Him, we've twisted it around as our parents 'I will' statement: We'll make a helper for our son/daughter comparable to us.

Sons and daughters' 'I will' statement: I will let my parents make me a helper comparable to them!!

Render unto God the things that are God's. Lest God judge you as He did Herod: Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. Again, He is not slack.
